of all women and up to 40% of women over 40 years of age. It can range in number and size from a
single to multiple growths and from small to large

Uterine fibroids are the most common gynecological tumors in women, affecting almost 50% of all women at some time during their reproductive years. Most of them do not require any treatment. When they grow very big or grow into the inner layer of the uterus, they may cause pain, bleeding, infertility, abortions & pressure on surrounding organs. The most common treatment for these tumors is surgical intervention.

Abdominal Myomectomy:

Sometimes fibroids need to be removed by open surgery due to their big size or number or location.

Laparoscopic Myomectomy:

We deal with different kinds of Fibroids by Laparoscopy.

  • Treatment mainly depends on size, number, and presenting complaints.
  •  Women who are planning for pregnancy fibroids are removed only if it hampers the conception.
If the size of the lesion is more and if it is disturbing the endometrial lining.
  • Mostly it is an incidental finding in women who undergo routine health checkup
  • Surgery is preferred if the size of the lesion is more than 3Cm.
If it is less than 3cm—followup is advised and ultrasound is repeated after 3 to 6 months and if
the size is increasing or causing any pain or bleeding—Surgical removal is done.
Fibroids can come back after surgery especially in women who have not reached menopause.
    - For large fibroids in women who are in the perimenopausal age group—Hysterectomy is
    preferred.
    - After Myomectomy conception depends on other factors like the endometrium, Quality of
    eggs, and malefactor.
    - 3 to 6 months gap is required for conception after myomectomy for the uterus to heal.
